Fairchild Imaging
Fairchild Imaging has supplied CCD focal plane arrays, CCD and CMOS cameras and imaging sub-assemblies for astronomy, missile seekers, aerial reconnaissance, spectroscopy, star trackers, digital radiography, mammography, dental x-ray, electron microscopy, non-destructive testing, x-ray crystallography, machine vision and other state-of-the-art military, industrial, medical, aerospace and scientific measurement applications.
Fairchild Imaging has supported the CCD market with the smallest of area arrays to our commercial wafer scale 4K x 4K to the largest device in the world: a 9K x 9K aerial reconnaissance CCD .
Just as we have supported the area array market we have also supplied thousands of commercial and custom linear and TDI devices throughout the world. Again we have pushed the boundaries of possibility by developing wafer scale CCDs with up to 12,288 resolution elements.
With our recently added line of ultra-low-noise CMOS detectors, Fairchild Imaging continues to set the standard for high-performance solid state optical detectors. These sensors offer an order-of-magnitude improvement in read-noise compared to traditional active-pixel CMOS imagers.
Aerospace:
Fairchild Imaging CCD sensors are on board the NASA Cassini mission to explore Saturn as well as the Huygens mission which has landed on Saturn's largest moon, Titan. Our back-illuminated CCD sensors have recently launched on the NASA Deep Impact Mission to discover the composition of the comet, Tempel 1. In addition to space exploration, Fairchild Imaging CCD sensors are integral components in astronomy, aerial reconnaissance and satellite mapping.
The product architecture spans from the small format (256 x 256) CCD for cockpit display to the 12K (12,288 x 128 elements) ccd 582 now CCD10121 time delay integration (TDI) devices to the 9K x 9K (9,216 x 9,216 pixels) CCD used in aerial mapping and aerial reconnaissance applications. Wafer scale CCD imagers such as these are our speciality.
